To provide high quality medicine, surgery and other services exclusively for feline patients in a low stress, clean and comfortable environment.
You just see cats? We are a primary care veterinarian clinic that is dedicated to offering services exclusively for domestic cats and kittens. Let's face it, practice makes PURRFECT. It is recognized that cats get nervous when they are removed from their home and placed in an unfamiliar environment. Cats are driven by instincts and territory woes and often react to these insecurities in a variety of ways from acting invisible, to being curious, to becoming aggressive. Loud noises such as dogs barking and strange smells only add to their stress. By focusing our practice on just cats, we are able to create an environment that is better suited to manage your pet's stress. Plus the focus just makes us good at what we do!
Services Provided Medicine:Cats benefit from routine physical examinations. Physical examinations are very important to keep your cat healthy and to give you an opportunity to speak with staff members and the doctor about your cat's health care. During a physical examination, diagnostics and vaccinations are performed as needed. Typically, healthy and younger cats only need an examination on a yearly basis. Older cats or cats with health issues may need examinations more frequently. Older cats in particular often need help to maintain a high quality of life. This can be obtained by proper diagnostics and supportive care. Referals are also offered to veterinary specialists when a patient might benefit from such. Surgery: Should your cat need surgery, we offer diagnostics such as bloodwork as well as provide close surgical monitoring, post-operative pain medications and top notch after care for our patients. Most surgeries are done at our clinic by the staff veterinarian, but occasionally the doctor might feel a patient would be better served by the skills of a specialist surgeon in which case we will arrange for a referral when necessary. Dentistry:An ounce of prevention is definitely worth a pound of cure when it comes to oral cavity health and your cat. Just like people, cats accumulate tartar that eventually leads to oral discomfort, periodontal disease, tooth decay & tooth loss. Tartar and Plaque build-up create a breeding ground for bacteria, putting stress on the immune and organ systems which lead to overall poor health. We encourage home preventive care through the use of special treats, water additives and/or diets to help prevent the formation of tartar. When a dental cleaning is needed, the veterinarian uses ultrasonic scalers, polishers and fluoride treatments to ensure that your cat's teeth are as clean, smooth and strong as they can be. By keeping your kitty's mouth in top shape, you improve his health and his quality of life. In some circumstances, we might even decide together that a referral to a board certified dentist would be in the best interest of a patient and or owner. Grooming: We offer lion cuts to channel cuts with sedatives available to help stressed out kitties tolerate this sometimes uncomfortable or unpleasant experience with ease. Regular grooming helps to prevent the formation of hairballs in the digestive tract as well as keeping the skin healthy and the coat free of matting. A Lion Cut is when the entire body is shaved very short, leaving long hair (when applicable) on the head, tail and lower limbs. A Channel Cut is when the belly and rear are shaved only. *** It is best to have Kitty groomed BEFORE matting develops. This practice helps to keep the procedure shorter and easier on your cat, the skin healthier and the fees lower. *** Lastly, rear & spot shaves, anal gland expressions, baths (no cage dryers used), nail trims, brush outs, and eye/ear cleanings are also available. All cats must be up to date on rabies vaccinations and exams. If it is a kitty with health issues, we might need an exam prior to better understand how to help him/her and you. Bed & Breakfast (boarding):Designed for comfort, our feline guests hang out in their own private condo complete with comfortable bedding, high quality food & fresh bottled water, one-on-one personal attention from the staff, close daily monitoring of overall health & demeanor. We understand that cats are unique individuals, having different needs, wants & desires, therefore, we customize the care that each one receives based on that individual's personality or needs. All boarders are required to be current on vaccinations and flea treatments. For safety, sanitary and health reasons, boarders are kept in their condos at all times. We only house a limited number of cats at any one time, so reservations are encouraged. Only cats who are accustomed to boarding, social, and healthy are accepted for boarding. Other arrangements are recommended for cats who have serious health issues, history of stress cystitis in male cats, poor social skills, or are older and have never had experience of boarding.
Behavior Counciling:Cats share our world with us and are admired because they are easy going pets with the ability to adapt to a variety of living situations. However, normal behavior can change when a cat is struck with illness and or stress. Symptoms such as inappropriate elimination can sometimes occur as well as other issues such as aggression, decreased socialization, increased vocalization, etc. Behavior problems can be frustrating issues, but the sooner action is taken, the more successful we will be in rectifying the situation. Microchipping:Cats are clever and can skirt around the most nimble of feet. Microchipping is one way of helping to ensure your pet finds his way back home as most shelters now scan every stray for a microchip. We use a chip that is recognized within the United States and many foreign countries. Prescription Diets : We offer a wide range of Hill's, Royal Canin, and Purina RX diets for cats who have health issues and need specific formulas to help stay in good health.
